In the late evening hours of October 18, 2008 deputies with the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a house on Taos Avenue in Farmington in reference to a drive by shooting.   Witness statements and subsequent investigation revealed that an SUV and a mid-sized car had been traveling together as they slowed down in front of the house and multiple shots were fired from one or both vehicles.  16 year-old Gary Martinez was struck by one of the rounds and subsequently died from his injuries.
